With new initiatives from President Biden and conversations about environmental considerations and standards, this Oil & Gas Drilling 101 course will provide a comprehensive understanding of drilling operations, methods, well control and blowouts, safety, regulations, and more to help those new to the industry understand the continuous need for drilling operations.
The course will start with developing a base knowledge of common drilling terms and types, then diving into a more detailed approach on equipment, compliance, problem prevention, and design. Attendees will also learn:
- Drilling fluids and their functions
- Rotary, percussion, and directional drilling
- Drilling optimization
- Personal protective equipment
- Environmental regulations and compliance
This program aims to equip attendees with a holistic knowledge of drilling operations, common issues, and the future of the industry. Case studies and open discussions will be included throughout the event to be sure everyone will benefit not only from our expert instructor, but from real stories and challenges from everyone in the group.
Discounts start at 20% off when you register five or more!
Learning Outcomes
- Explain drilling operations, terminology, and functions of drilling fluids and bits
- Compare different types of drilling methods (i.e., rotary, percussion, directional) and identify the different components of a drill string
- Analyze the importance of evaluation techniques, such as mud logging and coring, and identify the steps involved
- Discuss the importance of well control equipment
- Review common problems, including stuck pipe, lost circulation, and hole instability and how to mitigate these issues
